Mechanical Program Outline

The SPSP Mechanical Program leads to certificates internationally accredited by PAA/VQ-SET, City & Guilds and ACCET. The program is designed to provide students with a balanced combination of engineering theory and practical hands-on experience. This will ensure that on completion of the Mechanical Program graduates will have the required job entry skills to work within the Petroleum Services industries. Each student will complete the Academic and PEO foundation training prior to covering the Mechanical Program.

Certificate

  • NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (QCF)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction – Mechanical Fitting (QCF)
  • SPSP Diploma in Mechanical Technology

Accreditation

  • PAA/VQ-SET
  • City & Guilds
  • TVTC / ACCET

On completion program graduates will be able to

  • Correctly identify the main parts of a center lathe and state their function, and manufacture components from different materials within acceptable industry tolerances.
  • Correctly identify different types of keys and manufacture a plain key, and identify different types of couplings and remove, inspect and refit a flanged coupling.
  • Identify main types of valves used in industry and maintain those valves.
  • Maintain centrifugal and reciprocating pumps and perform types of alignment including reverse alignment techniques.
