SPSP is an independent, non profit vocational training institute run by an independent Board of Trustees that include representative from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Technical and Vocational Training co operation and Chevron. The SPSP utilize customized facility and state of the art computerized modeling and provides students with high degree of hands on training. Curriculum design and delivery are being provided by a UK Company TQ Education and Training Ltd. SPSP has been established to meet the needs of the Petroleum Services Industry and to support the Saudization of the workforce. It was founded by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) and Chevron Corporation. The Petroleum Services Industry consists of a number of contracting companies that work with the major oil companies. A number on leading Saudi and international petroleum services contactors also support the SPSP, such as Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabian Chevron, Al Rashaid Construction Company, Al Khorayef Petroleum Company, Al Abdul Karim Holding, Schumberger Company, Halliburton Company, Taqa, APICORP and Al Qahtani Group Company. Many of these companies are represented on the SPSP Board of Trustees under the Chairmanship of HE Abdulrahman Abdulkarim. SPSP also has the full support of the Saudi Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF). This collaboration has allowed SPSP to develop a number of industry specific training programs to provide the highest quality training for professionals to enter the Petroleum Services Industry. The Initial class of 220 SPSP students began the two year internationally recognized certification program in October 2008. The curriculum is designed around three core concepts: industry relevance, skills integration and learner responsibility. Graduates will leave the program possessing the core skills they need to enter a broad range of petroleum services industry occupations, including those in mechanical, electrical, welding, pipefitting, operations and drilling services.
